And it's fully compatible with Mac OS 8.5. Default Folder's timesaving Open and Save dialog enhancements allow users to: - Set up a default folder for any or all applications. - Switch among recently used folders from a pop-up menu. - See available disk space and switch between disks from a pop-up menu. - Click on a Finder window to display it in an Open or Save dialog. - Open the folder shown in an Open or Save dialog in the Finder. - Create folders, get information (including changing name, type, and creator), and move items to the Trash from within file dialogs. - "Rebound" back to the last file used. - Make "Replace" the default option instead of "Cancel" when saving a file with the same name as an existing file. - Click on greyed-out filenames in Save dialogs to use the name of an existing file. - Speed up the display of Open and Save dialogs by turning off custom color icons in the file list. Default Folder will operate on any Macintosh running System 7 or higher. In addition to the standard internet archives, information and updates are available at: Default Folder may be included on the UMich and Info-Mac CD-ROMs. Version 2.9.1 of Default Folder provides some minor enhancements while refining the fast, stable operation which has made it one of the most popular shareware utilities for the Macintosh. Some of the new features in this release include: -------------------------- - Compatibility with Mac OS 8.5 (as of the 8.5b6 beta release). - Clicking on greyed-out filenames can now be turned on and off, and can require a modifier key so that it isn't as easy to accidentally copy a file's name. - A bug was fixed which could cause the cursor shape to change to a folder and never change back. - Isolated startup problems caused by insufficient memory at startup have been fixed. - Clicking on greyed-out filenames no longer copies the names of aliases. It's also the ideal tool to put one's holiday pictures in order. PRESENTATION PhotoCat allows you to build catalogs of pictures easily, for example from a Photo-CD. All QuickTime compatible file formats can be read (along with BMP from PC's world). It also offers extended index and search capabilities which help you find pictures quickly. You can attach keywords to a picture, allowing for very accurate search of the catalog. Adding, exporting, deleting and transferring pictures are all very easy to do. Special tools are included to make catalog maintenance easy. PhotoCat 2 also provides many options for printing catalogs. It's also the ideal tool to put one's holiday pictures in order. PRESENTATION PhotoCat Player is the companion program of PhotoCat 2. It allows to distribute catalogs created with the latter. PhotoCat Player must be copied on the user's hard disk because it will not run on a locked disk. The program and the help files are about 3.3 Mo. Nevertheless the catalog can stay on a CD-ROM or on a network's shared disk. Installing PhotoCat Player on a hard disk will not add any file except the files into the "PhotoCat Player 1.1" folder and a preference file. Also, hfs+ is nothing to sneeze at...I got a significant number of megabytes back partitioning them as HFS+ rather than HFS. I'm not at home now, so I can't look it up, but I seem to recall it was on the order of 75-100 mb.
