AliasHelper helps manage aliases on your Mac. Occasionally aliases lose their connection to the original file. AliasHelper allows you to reestablish this connection, or instead delete the alias. It's recommended to run AliasHelper a couple times a week to keep your system optimized. MoonMenu is a system extension that draws the current phase of the moon in the menubar. The menu, when selected, reveals a textual description of the moon phase, illumination percentage, the moon's age in days, and the current lunation number. MoonMenu also comes with an application that can compute the lunar data for any given date. Changes in version 1.0.4: * Time of lunation 0 adjusted for daylight savings time. Moon age is from GMT. * The moon is now upside-down if you're using MoonMenu below the equator. Be sure your correct time zone is set in the Date and Time control panel. After launched, it will move the mouse to random positions on the screen at predetermined time intervals. The program can be quit by pressing any key or clicking the mouse on the program window created. Why is it useful? Certain services such as messaging clients or X Window servers may cause you to idle out after a period of inactivity. Thus, by moving the mouse continuously, you no longer have to worry about being logged out. The program works in the foreground as well as the background. I'm guessing it could also be used as a prank. This was not the intended usage. Version 1.0 Notes: This is the first public release of this program. My knowledge of the Macintosh Toolbox has just begun to develop, please excuse any bugs that I did not find. I plan to develop this program further, so stay tuned. Bugs: I did not implement a refresh of the screen, so the program information and updates information will disappear if the program window is covered up. The program is currently PPC only because of some compatability issue that I plan to research. Please send me any reports of bugs that you find. Features in Progress: -68k compatibility -User-specified time intervals -Cleaner interface -Daemon application Contact Information: Email: ccho@fas.harvard.edu Web: http://www.fas.harvard.edu/~ccho/mm.html Disclaimer: I hereby disclaim any responsibility that this program may cause in any form. The patch will only work with Sherlock 2. To remove banners from earlier versions, download Sherlock nobanners 1.0. Most banner programs simply alter the search plugins in your system folder; this one modifies three resources in the Sherlock 2 application itself, displaying only gray space instead of some idiotic banner. If you would rather make the modifications yourself, my web site has the instructions: http://www.awatters.com Use this program at your own risk. I am not responsible for the consequences. This program is free and may be distributed on all media for non-profit use only. For-profit users should contact the author. Apple indicates that re-initialization is the only resolution, destroying all data on the disk in the process. I recovered a friend's iBook suffering from this problem using Disk Warrior v1.0.4 on a special emergency CD I burned, containing lots of utilities. I informed publisher ALSoft's tech support about the success and received a very modest response to the effect that they had had one similar experience, but that they could not conclude on such limited experience that Disk Warrior would consistently handle the problem. But if YOU have the problem, it's at least worth a try--sure beats the Apple alternative, and there's not much to lose! MailSmith is a mail client from http://www.barebones.com and the thing I like about it is that it has very sophisticated filtering capabilities, much more powerful than Eudora Pro. Took a while to wrap my head around how they work but very powerful. The other feature that I completely love is that one possible filter action is to run an applescript. I use the message label to tell the applescript what to do and then the script reports back to MailSmith by setting the message label to something else. Very powerful. Just to make sure I am clear, I am not scripting MailSmith, I am using MailSmith to launch scripts that control other applications and then to act upon the results provided by those applications. The other mail program I like is MondoMail. MondoMail is a scriptable SMTP mail sender from http://www.acmetech.com/ and the thing I like about it is that it is very simple to make it send emails. It can set the headers, set the sender, include attachments, basically reconstitute the email so that I can save all the incoming header info and tag it to meet my needs. Very simple, very powerful.
