It is for students learning Spanish as a foreign language. This module helps you to study and practise the different ways of forming the plural of Spanish nouns, and the use of the definite article. It contains more than 1800 nouns. You can change or delete existing entries, add new words, and construct groups of nouns that you want to practise. Translations in English are included, and you can use it to practise translation. You can also do exercises based on sound, but at present you have to record the sound for yourself (or use text-to-speech feature). To use this module, you need to have the application program 'Verbs & Nouns' available from Info-Mac archives. With the label applier that I bought, the Neato, came a disk full of clipart and templates. Most of the other appliers, like the Stomper, ought to have similar. The included "CD-face" software was no great shakes, but it had files that might be useful for you. I put together an Illustrator template for the Avery 5931 CD/DVD labels, which you can have if you write to me offlist. (It's not fancy, but it gets the job done.) Since Avery only includes a Windows version of the free formatting software, I would recommend using a generic knockoff instead of their product. +- Saint John -+ +- "Rust puppies are everyones' best friends." I think it can be done but how. It's probably going to require some tweaking, but my guess is that it can be done. First thing to do is to connect the thing. There are parallel to serial adapters available; you may need a parallel to USB connector, depending on your Mac. Griffin Technologies can help with either of these: . Next thing is to run a terminal emulator such as ZTerm. I know it's possible to get it to use the serial port to connect to a device, but never having done it myself, I can only wish you good luck. Actually, it might be worthwhile to get a painfully old IBM-PC clone and use that as a dedicated Multi-Reader terminal. You can probably get one for the cost of shipping, and I know that terminal software exists for such beasts. +- Saint John -+ +- "Rust puppies are everyones' best friends." The CD-labelling widgets [Stomper, Memorex] come with a CD full of templates for a wide range of applications. Those kits usually sell for $10-20. Memorex is $16.99 online. CD Stomper wants $40 online. Yeah, right. IT's $25 at outpost: I paid $10 or so apiece on sale at MicroCenter here in Mpls, and it seems to me that these things are on sale every other week at MC or CompUSA or Circuit City or Best Buy or elsewhere. In the versions that I got, the applicators in the two brands were identical except for color, so I have no idea what makes the stomper people think theirs is so much better. I bought both just to have templates for whatever brand of label went on sale; I'm old enough that I figured that if I spent more than 15 minutes messing with a Memorex template to print on a Stomper label sheet, the $10 was worth it. ;) I can't recall if either of the kits came with templates for the Avery label sheets, or if the Avery label sheets come with templates in the package. They haven't gone on sale yet, so I haven't had cause to check. ;) A free template source [assuming you have a scanner] would be to drop a CD on the scanner and scan it. Bring it into Photoshop, erase the existing label and leave the border, and you're good to go. You'll have to fuss around a bit to align the template with the diecut labels on whatever label sheets you're using. See above comments about value of time, unless you want to to it for the Joy Of The Hunt or whatever. There are also labelling applications that will suck the filenames off the CD and make that sort of label. Here are some:: I've never used any of those. There is a $10 shareware program, UnCoverIt, which I use; UnCoverIt is a shareware application that automatically generates labels for different kinds of storage media. Unlike other label printing applications you don't have to enter the name of the files on your disk manually. UnCoverIt places icons and file names automatically at the right place and the right size. You choose what files should be displayed on the cover. For CDs, the labels are for the jewel boxes. If you have a picture for the front label of a CD, you can paste it into UnCoverIt. UnCoverIt 1.3 adds support for Audio-CDs, so all you have to do is naming the tracks, in case you macintosh doesn't already know their names. Currently these storage medias are directly supported: -CD-ROM -Audio-CD -Iomega ZIP -Iomega JAZ -Iomation SuperDisk -MO-Cartridges Download it from ---------------- Bach Chorale - The place behind the barn where one keeps the horse ---------------- Cyrus W. It's now running 8.6. Will I notice any performance > hit or other problems? You might want to search the web for reported problems and incompatibilities of OS 9.1. is a good place to start. I found a disturbing lot of such reports. Also, I installed 9.1 and immediately started having problems. Soon had to re-init my drive (Thank God for backups). In all fairness, though, I must admit that I also installed some other things, and tested some downloaded software for my user group library. So, I can not say for sure what caused the problems. As for iTunes, I tested it under OS 9.04 with no problems. So, you don't have to have 9.1 for that. Later, I removed it, since the CDT Remote, and the AppleCD Audio Player work fine for the occasional times I want to play a CD on my computer (and I don't play MP3 files, except for experimenting). When I want to create a CD, Toast works fine. Besides, iTunes does not appear to support SCSI CD recorders (yet). Although I don't need it, iTunes does appear to me to be a good program for playing music files and for converting between formats. ---------------- English Horn - A woodwind instrument so named because it is neither English nor a horn.
