New in release 1.01: Ñ Open/Save dialogs are now in english language. Ñ Fixed a Tempo bug [Archived as /info-mac/gst/midi/qmidi-11.hqx; 376 K] ------------------------------ Date: 7 May 2001 From: Steve Ashcroft To: Subject: [*] QuickTTest 1.5 QuickTTest is a statistical programme for calculating means, SEMs and SDs and for carrying out Student's t-test on the data. Its main advantage over other programmes is that data can be entered not only as individual data values but also as mean˜SEM or mean˜SD. Data can be entered not only from the keyboard but also by importing from a text file. Data and calculated results can be saved in a text file for editing with a word processor. Changes in this version Version 1.5 fixes a bug whereby importing a data file that did not end with a carriage return generated an error. Saved data files are now saved as BBEdit Lite files. Requirements QuickTTest runs on any Mac with any system from 7.6 up to and including 9.1. The programme is freeware. It's gameplay is similar to it's predecessor, Burning Rubber, a Mac shareware game I released in 1996. In Burning Rubber one had to drive a car through 2-dimensional levels as fast as possible, leaving as much destruction as possible on the way. Reckless Drivin' follows the same basic principle, however, it has been completely rewritten from scratch, and it employs a new graphics engine featuring smooth, dynamically zoomed, scrolling 16-bit graphics. The physics simulation has been redesigned to realistically resemble skidding and tire tracks on different road surfaces. To learn how to play the game, click on the 'Help' button in the Reckless Drivin' main menu, or just start a new game, and see for yourself. Version History New in version 1.3 (5/4/2001) -Now works with Mac OS X Final. You need to upgrade your System to MacOS X 10.0.2 for Reckless Drivin' to run, since older versions of MacOS X had a buggy DrawSprocket Library (See Mac OS X readme below). -Fixed a bug which would cause the game to crash when you shot a missile at the tunnel walls in level 8. -Fixed a bug which would allow you to skip most of level 5 under some rare circumstances. Requirements -A Power Macintosh or compatible. 100Mhz or more is recommended for smooth gameplay. To play the game at it's optimal settings, you should have an iMac or better. -CarbonLib is now required to run the game. It comes pre-installed into newer systems. If you have an older system, you can download it from the Reckless Drivin' Homepage: http://reckless.x2.nu. -DrawSprocket is required and InputSprocket is highly recommended (though no longer required for MacOS X compatibility). These are parts of the Apple GameSprockets. If you do not have them installed on your computer, you can download them from the Reckless Drivin' Homepage: http://reckless.x2.nu. -MacOS 8.1 or higher or Mac OS X 10.0.2 or higher is required for the game to run. -Sound Manager 3.6 or higher is recommended for best sound quality and performance. Any and all advice appreciated. Lots of luck. Acrobat 5.0 will allow export of text as RTF. However, the implementation of RTF in Acrobat is quite limited. It does preserve bold and italic, but I haven't checked whether it handles subs and supers. The text still comes out with hard returns at the end of each line and it loses the space at the ends of paragraphs and doesn't mark the ends of paragraphs in any way (e.g. by a double return) so that turning it into editable text requires some judicious use of Applescript (or OneClick Easyscript). My solution is a OneClick script that guesses that short lines really end paragraphs and marks them as paragraphs and then strips all the extra returns. A similar thing could be done with an AS solution. It works well for straight text, but complex character formats are something else. There may be commerical third party software (probably only for Windows) that will do a better job. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 May 2001 22:26:13 -0500 From: Noah Sager To: Subject: Astra 3400 Under OS X Does anyone use a Umax Astra 3400 with OS X?
