The Japanese Font Package is a collection of Hiragana, Katakana and some special characters that are unique to Japanese. The use of these characters is made possible through a keyboard layout similar to those used in Japan. Rather than using Romanji, each character can be written with the push of a button! The Japanese Font Package includes pictures of the entire Japanese keyboard which have been provided in various graphics formats. (PICT, GIF and JPEG) It is recommended that you print out the keyboard layout and use it to determine which Japanese characters you wish to type. Each key is given a special Japanese character as it's output. The character to the right of the standard letter, is the hiragana or katakana key that will be printed when entered. What files are included with this font package? The Japanese Font Package includes essentially four things: 1. Hiragana Textbook font. This font comes complete with a bitmapped version, a TrueType version, and a PostScript Type 1 version (for use with ATM). 2. Katakana Textbook font. This font also comes complete with a bitmapped version, a TrueType version, and a PostScript Type 1 version (for use with ATM). 3. Keyboard Layout Folder. Inside this folder there are 3 images of the hiragana and katakana layout you will use. These files are all identical, however they have been converted into different graphics formats for easy viewing/printing. These formats are, PICT, GIF and JPEG. Use your favorite graphics program to print out the layout for use with typing in Japanese. 4. This manual! It doesn't use any extensions, control panels, etc. It is only an application. What does this mean? Read on. First, here's a little info about popup windows. These are the windows that were introduced in Mac OS 8 from Apple. They are really a great idea... I use them all of the time! The problem is, and I'm sure most of you that have use d them have realized, when changing resolutions or after running some programs (especially games), they get all squished in the corner and the names look like this (...) The only way to fix them is to first drag them back into regular window form, and then drag them back down. This program does this task for you, and it works faster than humans can, it works asynchronously, and it also saves some aggravation. How does it work? When popup windows get squished, run Popup Window Reset. It will grab each visible window, un-pop it, and then re-pop them back down in full-size form. It is quicker then humans, but still kinda slow for my liking. (Which I hope to improve on). I've tested this program on a G3 Beige 233, 7300, 6500, 8600 w/ G3 upgrade, Powerbook G3 233 (Wallstreet), G3 Beige 266 and a few Blue G3's 350 + I don't have access to a 68k machine, so if someone could test the FAT part of this program for me and let me know if it works, it would be appreciated. This program is free. Feel free to distribute it anywhere, but please include this read me to keep other users from being confused. The program is in alpha stages and will be updated. This version will expire in Sept. of 1999. If you want to include it in magazines, books or cd9s, feel free, but keep the above statement in mind. Popup Window Reset has this cheesy name and cheesy interface because it is alpha code that will be included in Desktop Resetter 2.0 when it is released.
