Marvelous! I used to consider myself a good TP programmer, have used Delphi, but was not able to get Kylix to run on an older computer.
Tried to go back to Windows, but don't like to be in Windows.

2005-01-03 -+- Ron -+- -+- My first Pascal compiler was JRT Pascal for the Z80 processor running CPM. After I assembled my first PC I used Turbo Pascal under msdos and wrote three rather complex programs for my business. Then I retired, along came Windows and all the Pascal stuff is gone. Last week I installed Linux, found your site, downloaded and installed FreePascal. I just wrote "Hello World" in Pascal and it made me feel 20 years younger.

2005-02-04 -+- Les May -+- -+- FreePascal is wonderful! It is easier to use the gtk+ widgets with FreePascal for Linux, than it is to use gtk+ with the gnu C compiler on Linux. Useful books are GTK+ programming in C by Logan, GTK+ programming in 21 days by Martin et al, Developing Linux Applications by Harlow. All are C books but are useful to find out what all the widgets will do and how to call them. To see how it is done with FreePascal see the tutorials 'Programming GTK in Free Pascal' by Klampfl and van Canneyt which are downloadable. Lazarus and Free Pascal closely cooperate.
