Folks; Much thanks to muki pakesch and Norbert M. Doerner for pointing me to AIFFWriter, sample code from Apple. My experiences were...ugly, to say the least. Version 2.0b1 as compiled did not operate correctly (the controls in OS 9.1's Sound control panel were non-functional, and consistantly reverted to the defaults), and 1.0d5 PPC was just plain evil, dropping into MacsBug every time I looked at it funny. (Tested on a 7500 w/G3 daughtercard; YMMV.) I've looked at the code, but I'm way too rusty with C to even attempt to modify a device driver. (One should always know one's limitations, and this is definately mine... ;) If anyone is aware of any other software to record from the audio subsystem (preferably with a "pass-through"), please drop me a line, and I'll test and report back.
